For the second time this week Piano welcomes another iconic national brand into the fold, Esquire Classics from the Hearst Corporation. Subscribers to Esquire Classics will be entitled to read anything that Esquire has ever published – more than 50,000 articles from 10,000 issues!
Founded in 1933 the magazine has long focused on men’s fashion and excellent fiction with contributions from American authors like Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald among others. Additionally Esquire helped pioneer the trend towards “new journalism” with pieces from Norman Mailer, Gay Talese and Tom Wolfe.
Now, for only $4.99 a month, subscribers can re-read these excellent authors and more. All current issues will be included into an Esquire Classics subscription and be available for reading as soon as they are released.
Piano couldn’t be more excited and proud to be working with Esquire.
Piano is excited to add the the world’s largest newsweekly magazine, Time, to the roster of world-class publications using Piano VX to power their online monetization efforts. The magazine was founded by the legendary Henry Luce in 1923 and was the first newsweekly magazine in the US. Almost 3.3 million people weekly read the magazine, placing it only behind People Magazine in Time Inc.’s stable of publications.
In September, we had the pleasure of hosting a group of media executives visiting the US from Germany. The trip was organized by the VDZ, which is the umbrella organization of the German Magazine Publishers Association. The organization represents 400 publishers producing more than 3,000 titles.
Following the meeting our Chief Strategy Officer David Restrepo was interviewed by Wolf Siegert of IRIS Media. Click here to listen to the brief interview.
WordPress is one of the most popular content management systems used by Tinypass publishers – we are on version 3 of our WordPress plugin that enables pay-per-article or recurring site subscriptions. As a WordPress VIP technology partner, we recently attended the Big Media & Enterprise WordPress Meetup hosted at the New York Times building, where we heard presentations from Forbes, USA Today, TheBlaze, and Edelman. To further support the open source CMS we all love so much, a Tinypass volunteer representative will be at WordCamp NYC to help users of all levels learn how to use WordPress. Come visit us at the Happiness Bar on Saturday August 2, from 2 – 3pm!
Thanks again to the team at Montclair State University’s Center for Cooperative Media for inviting Tinypass out to present to its second group of journalism startup grant recipients. The selected sites are part of the Center’s Grow and Strengthen program, which provides participants with a micro-grant as well as business coaching and mentoring over a six-month period. Please see http://tinyp.as/1qkENwd for more information on the grant recipients. Funding for the journalism startup grants is provided primarily by the University, the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, and the Knight Foundation.
