CoxHub Monetizes its OTT Initiative With Tinypass

The trend in the media world known as “going-over-the-top”, OTT for short, continues to gain momentum as media owners increasingly decide to make their content available direct to consumers over the Internet.  The latest example of an OTT initiative focuses on collegiate and high school sports in New England and is powered by Tinypass.

CoxHub, a division of Cox Communications, has launched CoxHub Live to broadcast college and high school sporting events in Rhode Island and Connecticut.  The Emmy award-winning coverage of local basketball, hockey and football includes games played by Providence College, the University of Rhode Island, and the Rhode Island Interscholastic high school league.

CoxHub Live is currently promoting a $25 season pass to view all University of Rhode Island Men’s basketball games, Providence College Men’s hockey games, select Rhode Island High School championship games, and The National Prep School Invitational (NPSI) Basketball tournament.  Alternatively, viewers can also purchase $9 monthly passes or pay-per-view games for $5.


Over the course of just four weeks, Cox, which is the third-largest U.S. cable TV company serving more than 6 million residences and businesses, was able to go from concept to a live site using Tinypass’ flexible ecommerce-for-content platform.
